IÐUNN -- OLD GODS. NEW LIFE. Adam DePrince / Goblin Reactor ============================= Canonical home: https://iðunn.goblinreactor.com/ ASCII alias: https://idunn.goblinreactor.com/ DNS hostname: xn--iunn-bqa.goblinreactor.com All my work is intended to be medium- and narrow-band friendly. My GSP-1700 setup: https://iðunn.goblinreactor.com/#field-notes Iðunn's apples keep the Norse gods young. That's the joke: I'm resurrecting old computing techniques, restoring the old gods of the terminal to glory. The illustrated edition shows Goblin, my black-and-white Silkie chicken mascot, holding a golden apple for the occasion. I'm an old programmer with 37 years of terminal experience. I like the MS-DOS aesthetic of text-based applications, and I have fond memories of the Pine mail program and Unix talk. My MS-DOS memories come from a Hercules display and a Toshiba 3100SX. For me, those memories are orange. I'm still building tools for the way I want to use a computer. I hike with Inkline on a reMarkable 2, a GSP-1700 satellite phone, a power bank, and a powered USB hub. At 9.6 kb/s, Inkline's terminal proxy keeps unrelated tablet traffic off the connection. Unlimited airtime doesn't remove the battery cost of transmitting or keeping a call open.
